Just purchased the 7'-2" Medium-Light Power Fast Action Walleye Series for finesse smallmouth fishing while at the Chicagoland Fishing Expo. Met the owner, who is knowledgeable and a nice guy. I probably should have gone with the 7'-6" rod for extra casting distance, yet this will do as my first Kade rod.
Several things strike me that this is a very good rod at a reasonable price.
1) Nice Carbon Blank
2) Terrific Cork Quality (looks to be AAAA grade)
3) Very good, yet perhaps not top level (like Fuji Torzite) guides
4) Nice, comfortable reel seat
5) Very lightweight...competitive with some of the lightest on the market (3.6 ounces)
I can't wait to put this to use when the ice breaks here in the Great Lakes region. Don't let the Walleye tag fool you, as it has the makings of a great Smallmouth Bass finesse rod. Only time on the water will complete the story in terms of cast-ability, sensitivity, the right flex to work well with line as light as 4 pound test, yet the backbone to handle large smallies. I will provide another review once the season progresses.
